AIAIAI UNIT-4 Wireless+ Review: One Week of Mobile Production in Venice
As a music producer and artist, my studio is wherever inspiration strikes. I recently spent a full week in Venice, Italy, working from a small apartment nestled between the canals. It was part work trip, part creative retreat—and my AIAIAI UNIT-4 Wireless+ studio monitors turned out to be the best decision I could have made for the journey.
After months of using them in my main studio, I already trusted their sound. But it wasn’t until I packed them into my bag and brought them to a makeshift home studio in Venice that I really understood their power: not just in terms of audio quality, but in terms of workflow freedom.

Mobility Without Compromise
Every morning, I set up my compact studio: laptop, MIDI keyboard, Push2, and the UNIT-4s. The wireless W+ Link connection made it feel like everything just clicked together. No cables, no latency issues. I could play in real time, tweak synths, and mix without the delay you usually get from Bluetooth or portable speakers.
Also: no need for power outlets. These monitors ran on battery for the full day, even with extended sessions. I’d start sketching beats by the window while the gondolas floated by, and hours later, still have juice left. 🙂
During that week, I wasn’t just casually creating—I was actually working on client projects, including beat commissions and a short-film score. The 80W Class-D amplifiers in the UNIT-4s gave me the clean, flat response I needed to make reliable mix decisions.
I compared mixes on headphones later out of habit, but honestly? I didn’t need to. The stereo imaging, the clarity in the mids, the balanced low-end—it was all there.
And when I wanted a break from mixing, I’d just connect my phone via Bluetooth 5.0 and play references or listen to music while making dinner. These monitors effortlessly shifted from “professional gear” to “lifestyle speakers,” which was a huge plus in a live-in workspace.
